why-you-woke-up-with-less-tweeps-this-am

Twitter made a change yesterday that removed deleted and suspended accounts from your list of followers. Twitter Status had the real scoop.

And don’t worry, it wasn’t just you who lost a few followers. Check out the numbers of followers for the Top 100 Tweeps – even @barackobama lost 789.

I’m not as cool as everyone else – I only lost 10.

How many did you lose?

Man talk about your self doubting! I woke up and checked to see how many followers I had this morning (because I broke the 6k followers goal last night) then I see 286 tweeps un followed me? What did I do? I was sleeping for petes sake!

Glad to see it wasn’t just me :D so to answer your question -286! Grrrrrrrrr

Thank goodness!! There were some pretty sketchy folks out there.

I don’t know how many I lost… Often, when I click on a new follow to “check them out”, I get a notice they have been suspended. I think it’s great they are keeping the space clean!

GREAT JOB TWITTER! (Now, what’s with the spasms this morning?)

Awww, I was not really keeping track of my exact numbers :( I had seven hundred something yesterday and I still do. Maybe I lost nobody :)

I’m so glad I saw your tweet about this post. I was wondering what happened to my followers list! I think I lost at least 6 or 7.

Noticed all the wailing and gnashing of cyber teeth on Twitter about this but I didn’t lose any followers. I suspect that’s because I check out each one and don’t allow the spammers to begin with?

Ahh, so that explains it, Jonathan. I think I had about 15 fake followers yesterday that got axed. Cheers for the info.

I didn’t lose any, I don’t think. I was about 160 before, and about 160 now. Not cool enough to attract the spammers, I guess. :)

Wow so I guess I was a big loser… wth man? not cool! I am glad that Twitter is wiping out the spam accounts… but still not happy about going backwards overnight… :)

I lost about 300 (less than 5%) – makes sense to me.

not happy about going backwards? Think about this– maybe you get to celebrate a milestone all over again!

I rarely check…but it seems to me that I might have lost a few. Like David Brown, I was sleeping. It’s good to know that my snoring didn’t scare them away.

I wonder how many of us lost the same followers… that’d be interesting to see, because it would show how many of us are within “6 degrees” of each other.
