Why We Created The Chart

As has been said by many in the industry, universal search is changing the way that internet marketers go about their campaigns. Part of the struggle that we have internally is explaining this concept to executives. Usually, we are in about 5 – 7 meetings a week discussing strategies for companies. As the topic of universal search comes up, their eyes begin to glaze and a state of confusion ensues.

This used to happen with us when we talked about link building as well. Then we introduced our Link Building Chart and began using it. Since we put that out last March, we have heard it has helped many SEOs the same way it helped us.

So, to fix this communication hole regarding universal search, we compiled a group of the smartest people in the industry on the topic of universal search. We asked them to share their expertise and quotes, and then we put it all together in an easy to read, fun PDF – a universal search chart.

    Great stuff here. Our company develops electronic real estate marketing products for realtors and offices. I’d love to hear your take on how you see this, along with smart phone technology is changing real estate. Imagine google searches pulling up actual property videos and tours, maps, agent contact info, etc. I think this could be one of the biggest changes in real estate in a long time.

    It’s funny, because my partners are I all started in the real estate industry and we have watched technology change the real estate business since about ’99. I COMPLETELY believe that search marketing savvy agents and brokerages will be able to utilized the power of search for selling real estate in a totally different way in the coming months and years.

    Your imagination will probably become reality. Someone searching for Philadelphia real estate may come accross a tech savvy agents video on a property that’s for sale there, images of the home (or their homes that they have for sale) and a whole lot more. Google already has added their own real estate search that’s powered by Google base. We’ll see what happens.

    Yes… we auto-feed our clients listings to most of the national feeds already. Here’s an example of one of our products. http://www.exite-listings.com/5667 . You’ll see that we cross promote all our other products within this listing website. We’re seeing incredible increases with ranking since the videos, flash tours and text to speech audio is now being cross promoted.

    That’s really great that you’re experimenting and having success with this stuff. Many people are scared of the changes taking place because they aren’t comfortable with all of the changes that universal search brings, it’s awesome to see people embracing it.

    I’m counting on this! If the search engines are truly providing a service by presenting seekers with the content they expressed in their search term then the Real Estate Agents and Brokers who have been providing their clients with professional services for years will finally be rewarded.By professional services I’m referring to those who take the virtual tours, post more pictures, have videos, and expose their listings everywhere; in general take that extra step. From my perspective if you have had deep pockets in the past you land on top.     Barbara – You WILL be rewarded… but make sure you don’t forget that your images must be optimized properly, you need to have video site maps for your videos and you need to be optimizing your data feed. There will always be a method that Google uses to determine which of each of these items deserves that valuable first page placement… HAVE FUN!
